Advertising Policy

How this site is funded

PetExplained is intended to be supported primarily by Google AdSense display advertising once an AdSense account is approved. As of this version of the site, advertising is not yet live — ad placements are reserved (shown as labelled placeholders) but no ad network is loading real ads.

What advertising does not influence

Advertising does not influence which topics we cover, what an article concludes, or which sources we cite. No advertiser reviews or approves article content before publication, and we do not accept payment to make a specific food, product, or brand appear safer, better, or more prominent than the evidence supports.

Ad placement principles

  • Ads are placed so they are visually distinct from navigation and article content.
  • Ads are not placed to create accidental clicks or mimic site controls.
  • Ad space is reserved at a fixed size so loading an ad does not shift page content around you.
  • We aim to keep ad density low enough that the article itself remains the primary experience.

Future monetization

We may explore other monetization in the future (for example affiliate links or product comparisons), but only where it doesn’t compromise the accuracy or independence of the content. This page will be updated if that changes.
